How to sell retail products and services without a website

Dealer Selling with no E-commerce Website

No E-Com Website? No paid ads? No problem!
There are 3 steps to success;

1) Media (Images and Videos)
If you have a smart phone and physical products, you’re in business. Use the smart phone to take
images and videos of your products. Start by taking “catalog” style images; product on a shelf or on
display. Also short UGC unboxings or featured product videos work very well. Start a folder to
archive/store this media in your computer. Name this media according to the product brands and
names.
I’d recommend starting with your top selling items and most profitable items first. Then working
through your inventory.

2) Google Business Listing
The Google Biz Listing is often overlooked, and yet a very powerful sales tool.
Not only is Google the #1 Search Engine on the planet with an estimated 5.6 Billion searches per day,
but the Android OS is developed by Google, sources information from Google, and has over 2.8 Billion
Users.
Google uses the information on your Google Biz Listing to connect customers to your business in Search
and on Android OS Devices.
So it’s advantageous to LOAD the Business Listing up with keyworded images & videos, posts, and
products to increase your visibility on Google.

A. Upload as many images and videos as possible (created in step 1) to your Google Business Listing. Create a LIBRARY of your product offerings. Prioritize big ticket or strong moving items. Expand on this library as much as you can.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to rename the images/videos to related keywords that want to show in
searches for.
EXAMPLE: Name images with product keywords, brand, make, model, use, locations and features.
Rename any images with names like this “DH926740.jpg”
Give Google keywords that they can use to connect customers to your business.
Every image and video is an active search result so keyword accordingly!

B. Google Business allows you to create Product Listings in the account.
ADD ALL big ticket items in “Products”, then link to your contact page on website.

C. Create Google Business Posts inside the account. Add text, image and link to your contact page
on website. These post have a LONG shelf life and can pop in searches for months. Be sure to
use valued keywords.

D. Google Business Listing Reviews – Ask customers for reviews, facilitate reviews, reply back to
applicable reviews
The Google Business Listings is a long term SEO play… meaning content that you upload and keyword
today, will be viewed by customers and selling for you for years to come. Many businesses completely
ignore this Business Listing, so this is a way to gain a major advantage in Google Searches as a Kayak
Retailer.

3) Facebook Marketplace
Facebook Marketplace is growing extremely fast and very few dealers are taking advantage of it.
Facebook estimates there are 1 Billion Marketplace Users.
You do not need an e-commerce website to drive clicks with Marketplace, as many businesses prefer to
drive interested buyers to a phone number or email, or Facebook Messenger.

A. To get started, simply create a product listing for each item that you want to sell on Facebook
Marketplace – https://www.facebook.com/marketplace
Selling on the platform is free! It costs you nothing but a few minutes to setup.
Use this media to populate a listing for each model that you want to sell.
Facebook has a feature where sellers can “Mark an Item as Sold”… but if you’re a dealer with
many to sell, you simply keep the same listing active and work inbound buyers until you sell out.
*It’s likely that there are no other local dealers selling on Marketplace like this, which gives you
a huge advantage and a viable Facebook Sales Funnel. But, this method is slowly catching on around the US.

B. Detail is critical for Facebook Marketplace Listings. You are beating out the competition simply
by “showing up and 100% completing a listing.” Most listings are not completed.
Be sure you’re choosing the right Category.
Include location info, FB will ask what location you want to target with your listing.
Include business info in sales copy, and maybe even a showroom image with product images.

C. When the kayak listings are built, simply sit back and field inbound inquiries from potential
buyers. There will be MANY and these listings will keep selling as long as they are up.

D. Keep these listings active and maybe share them to your Facebook Page once a week.
Facebook is heavily invested in Marketplace being successful. So they give favoritism to
Marketplace Listings when it comes to feed visibility, sharing, and person to person interactions.
Facebook will show your listings in related Facebook Searches within the geographical location
that you select for the item you’re selling.

4) Repeat FB Marketplace Strategy on other Seller Platforms
Deploy the same strategy outlined above, to other Seller Platforms;
NextDoor – https://nextdoor.com/
Craigslist – https://craigslist.org/
LetGo – https://we.letgo.com/
IF you want to. FB alone may drive plenty of business your way.

*Tip 1 – try to set all accounts up to feed the same funnel = a phone number, an email, a contact
page…etc. Example; sales@yourbusiness… Something that isn’t tied to one individual. With
listings on all 4 seller accounts, you’re going to be extremely busy “Selling” & talking to potential
customers. So streamline your inbound inquiries into one business funnel.

*Tip 2 – Once this funnel is in place, pass off management to a knowledgeable and responsible
employee. For many companies these “e-com” departments can grow extremely fast and turn
over millions in inventory.

Tip 3 – Carve out 1 hour per day to REPEAT THIS ACTIVITY Points 1-3.
Daily consistency is ESSENTIAL

Tip 4 – Use this activity to build a Facebook Group or customer list from your customers. This provides a free remarketing tool that helps your business grow. Share listings, tips, ideas and build a community.

Google Merchant Center Explained

Google Merchant Center is a platform that allows businesses to upload their product information to Google. This information can then be used to create ads on Google Shopping, Google Search, and other Google services. In this article, we will explore how to use Google Merchant Center to promote your business and sell your products online.

Getting Started with Google Merchant Center

To get started with Google Merchant Center, you will need a Google account. If you already have a Google account, you can simply log in to Google Merchant Center with your existing credentials. If you don’t have a Google account, you will need to create one before you can start using Google Merchant Center.

Once you have logged in to Google Merchant Center, you will need to set up your account. This involves providing some basic information about your business, such as your company name, address, and contact information. You will also need to select your target country or region, and specify the language you will be using to describe your products.

Creating a Product Feed

The next step in using Google Merchant Center is to create a product feed. A product feed is a file that contains information about your products, such as their name, description, price, and image. This file can be created in a variety of formats, including CSV, XML, and TXT.

To create a product feed, you will need to gather all the necessary information about your products. This includes their name, description, price, and image, as well as any additional attributes that may be relevant, such as color, size, and material. Once you have collected this information, you can use a product feed management tool to create your product feed.

There are many product feed management tools available, both free and paid. Some popular options include Google Sheets, Feedonomics, and DataFeedWatch. These tools allow you to create and manage your product feed, as well as to optimize it for Google Shopping.

Optimizing Your Product Feed

Once you have created your product feed, you will need to optimize it for Google Shopping. This involves making sure that your product information is accurate and complete, and that your products are categorized correctly.

To optimize your product feed, you will need to review your product information and make sure that it is accurate and complete. This includes checking that your product names are spelled correctly, that your descriptions are accurate and informative, and that your prices are up-to-date.

You will also need to categorize your products correctly. Google provides a set of product categories that you can use to classify your products. These categories are used to group similar products together, which can help improve your visibility on Google Shopping.

In addition to categorizing your products, you can also use product attributes to provide additional information about your products. This can include details such as the material, color, and size of your products, as well as any other relevant information.

Submitting Your Product Feed

Once you have optimized your product feed, you will need to submit it to Google Merchant Center. This can be done by uploading your product feed directly to the platform, or by using a product feed management tool that integrates with Google Merchant Center.

When you submit your product feed, Google will review it to make sure that it meets its guidelines. This review process can take up to three days, after which your products will be eligible to appear on Google Shopping and other Google services.

Managing Your Product Listings

Once your products are listed on Google Shopping, you will need to manage your product listings to make sure that they are up-to-date and accurate. This includes updating your product information when prices or other details change, and making sure that your products are always available for sale.

You can manage your product listings directly in Google Merchant Center, or you can use a product feed management tool to make updates to your product feed. Some product feed management tools, such as Feedonomics and DataFeedWatch, offer advanced features for managing your product listings, such as real-time inventory management and automatic price updates.

In addition to managing your product listings, you can also use Google Merchant Center to track your performance on Google Shopping. This includes monitoring your clicks, impressions, and conversions, as well as analyzing your product data to identify areas for improvement.

You can view your performance data directly in Google Merchant Center, or you can use a third-party analytics tool, such as Google Analytics, to track your performance. By monitoring your performance data, you can identify trends and patterns in your product sales, and use this information to optimize your product listings and improve your sales performance.

Tips for Success on Google Merchant Center

To maximize your success on Google Merchant Center, there are several tips and best practices that you should follow. These include:

Optimize your product titles and descriptions: Your product titles and descriptions should be clear, concise, and informative. Use relevant keywords and avoid vague or misleading language.

Use high-quality images: Your product images should be high-quality, clear, and well-lit. Use multiple images to show different angles and details of your products.

Keep your prices up-to-date: Your product prices should be accurate and up-to-date. Make sure to update your prices regularly to avoid discrepancies and potential customer frustration.

Categorize your products correctly: Use Google’s product categories to classify your products correctly. This will help ensure that your products appear in relevant search results.

Google Merchant Center is a powerful tool for businesses looking to promote their products and increase their online sales. By creating and optimizing your product feed, managing your product listings, and monitoring your performance data, you can maximize your success on Google Shopping and other Google services.

However, there are several reasons why this may be happening, and identifying the underlying issue is the first step towards addressing it. In this article, we’ll explore four possible reasons why your website isn’t selling, and what you can do to improve its performance.Your website isn’t optimized for search engines

To address this, you need to focus on search engine optimization (SEO) techniques that help improve your website’s visibility in search results.

This can include optimizing your website’s content with relevant keywords, creating high-quality backlinks from reputable websites, and ensuring that your website is mobile-friendly and loads quickly. By improving your website’s SEO, you can increase your chances of being found by potential customers and generate more sales as a result.Your website’s design is unappealing or confusing

Another reason why your website may not be selling is that its design is unappealing or confusing. To address this, you need to focus on creating a visually appealing and user-friendly website that is easy to navigate and understand.

This can include using a clean and modern design, creating clear and concise messaging, and ensuring that your website’s layout is intuitive and easy to navigate. You may also want to consider incorporating user reviews and social proof into your website, as this can help build trust and credibility with potential customers.Your website’s content isn’t persuasive enough

This can include creating product descriptions that highlight the benefits of your products or services, incorporating customer testimonials and case studies, and creating blog posts that demonstrate your expertise in your industry.

It’s also important to ensure that your content speaks directly to your target audience and addresses their specific needs and pain points. By creating content that resonates with your audience and provides value, you can increase your chances of converting potential customers into actual sales.Your website’s checkout process is too complicated

Finally, another reason why your website may not be selling is that your checkout process is too complicated. If potential customers find it difficult to complete their purchase or encounter technical issues during the checkout process, they may choose to abandon their purchase altogether. To address this, you need to focus on simplifying your checkout process and ensuring that it is as user-friendly as possible.

BRICK & MORTAR RETAILER PRO TIP

If you are a Brick and Mortar Retailer, you should ABSOLUTELY be listing your products on Facebook Marketplace (among other online market places). Simply give the store number and address for pickup. Or you can provide a shipping option. Retail can be busy at times, and extremely slow at times. When a retail business’s walk-in traffic is slow, management usually finds things for staff to do while they wait for customers to enter to store; inventory, social media, media creation, cleaning, education…etc. THIS is what Sales Staff can/should be doing in downtime; listing products in the store on Facebook Marketplace. This will essentially DRIVE BUSINESS to your store and increase the skills of your sales people and increase their value to the business.

If you are a business owner or manager, you obviously have a lot invested in the success of the company. Is it not worth 30 minutes to list your time selling/profitable products on Facebook Marketplace to drive sales and awareness. It absolutely is worth your time. And many other business owners around the country are learning and deploying this valuable lesson in an ever changing economy. You can list items on Facebook Marketplace using your smartphone in a very short amount of time. You may find this avenue of marketing can generate huge sales volume with little cost to the business outside of time and effort.

In addition to Facebook Marketplace, also consider creating listings for your retail products on other online classified platforms. Such as; Craigslist, Let-Go, Nextdoor, What Not and more.

Media Storage & Archives

Media Storage & Archives

The only way to earn in media creation is to constantly be creating media; hourly, daily, weekly, monthly…etc. Over repetition and thousands of uploads, you’ll find niches, spaces, tricks along the way to level up your game. But, what do you do with all of that media? Do you delete it? Or store it? And how would you store it? These are answers and insites that I’m going to provide in this week’s blog entry.

Do you delete old media?

Many people delete old media to make room for new media. If you are operating solely on a smart phone, which many media creators are, then you are limited to physical and/or cloud storage for housing your media. The problem here is that eventually you’ll be forced to removed media to add new media, or pay expansive fees to store. If you are shooting with camera equipment, you likely have storage options in place. I would strongly suggest that you save everything in your own storage devices. Why? Because this media can be used in future projects as B-Roll, or primary content. We are not limited to editing media once and then being done with it. We can continue to use the same great media that we’ve been creating for years to enrich future projects that can be monetized. Having massive databases of your own media is extremely valuable. Especially if that media helps you sell a product or service. No if you can, find a way to Archive everything!

How to store media files?

There are several ways and methods to store media files. The most popular are; External Hard Drives, Cloud Storage and Network Attached Storage. After 12 plus years of media creation, I use all three of the mentioned storage options. All of them operate in a similar way, with various advantages and disadvantages. And External Hard Drive will do for cold or mobile storage. An NAS or Cloud Stoage Options are great for managing current projects with multiple devices. For example, I may edit on a PC or a Mac Book, send the media to cloud/NAS storage, then pulbish it with a mobile device in the coming weeks.

External Hard Drives

An external hard drive is a portable storage device that is connected to a computer or other electronic device using a USB or other type of cable. It provides additional storage capacity beyond what is available on the computer’s internal hard drive, and allows users to store and transport large amounts of data, including documents, photos, videos, music, and other files.

External hard drives typically contain a standard hard drive that is housed in a protective enclosure, along with electronics that allow it to communicate with a computer. They come in a variety of sizes and storage capacities, ranging from a few hundred gigabytes to multiple terabytes.

One of the main advantages of external hard drives is that they are portable and can be easily disconnected from one computer and connected to another, making them ideal for transferring files between computers, backing up important data, or sharing files with others.

External hard drives can be powered by the computer they are connected to via USB, or they may require an external power source such as a wall outlet. Some external hard drives also come with additional features, such as encryption to protect sensitive data or automatic backup software to simplify data backup and recovery.

Overall, external hard drives provide an affordable and convenient way to expand a computer’s storage capacity and ensure that important data is always backed up and easily accessible.

Cloud Storage

Cloud media storage refers to the storage of media files (such as photos, videos, and music) on remote servers hosted by cloud storage providers. These cloud storage providers offer users the ability to store and access their media files from any device with an internet connection.

Cloud media storage is becoming increasingly popular due to its convenience and accessibility. Users can upload their media files to the cloud storage provider’s servers and access them from any device with internet access, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. This means that users can easily share their media files with friends and family, without having to physically transfer files or worry about storage space on their own devices.

Cloud media storage also provides users with peace of mind when it comes to backup and disaster recovery. By storing media files in the cloud, users can protect their valuable data from loss due to hardware failures, theft, or natural disasters. Most cloud storage providers offer automatic backup and syncing features that ensure that all media files are always up-to-date and secure.

Some cloud media storage providers also offer advanced features such as facial recognition, automated tagging, and smart search capabilities that make it easy to organize and find specific media files.

However, it’s important to note that there are some potential drawbacks to cloud media storage. Users need to be mindful of the security and privacy implications of storing their media files on remote servers owned and managed by third-party providers. Additionally, depending on the size and amount of media files being stored, there may be ongoing costs associated with cloud media storage services.

NAS - Network Attached Storage

A NAS (Network-Attached Storage) home server is a type of server that is designed to provide centralized storage and file sharing capabilities within a home network. It’s essentially a specialized computer that’s connected to a local network and is optimized for storing and managing large amounts of data.

A NAS home server typically consists of one or more hard drives that are installed in a dedicated enclosure or chassis. These hard drives are configured in a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) setup, which provides data redundancy and protection against hard drive failures.

The NAS home server connects to the home network using an Ethernet cable, and can be accessed by other devices on the network such as desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, and tablets. The server is managed using a web-based interface, which allows users to configure settings, create shared folders, and control access to data.

One of the primary benefits of a NAS home server is that it provides a centralized location for storing and sharing files within a home network. This eliminates the need for users to store files on individual devices or rely on cloud storage services, which can be expensive and may not provide adequate storage space.

In addition to file sharing, a NAS home server can also be used for media streaming, backup and recovery, and remote access. For example, users can stream movies or music stored on the server to other devices on the network, create automated backups of important data, and access files remotely over the internet.

Overall, a NAS home server can be a valuable addition to any home network, providing reliable and secure storage and file sharing capabilities that can help simplify and streamline the management of data within the home.

What the Pros Do

Professional media creators, such as photographers, videographers, and graphic designers, typically store their media on a combination of local storage devices and cloud-based storage services.

For local storage, professionals may use high-performance hard drives or solid-state drives (SSDs) that are installed directly in their workstations or connected externally via Thunderbolt or USB-C ports. These local storage devices allow for fast read/write speeds and quick access to media files, which is crucial for editing and post-production work.

Professionals may also use network-attached storage (NAS) devices, which provide centralized storage that can be accessed by multiple computers on a local network. This allows teams to collaborate on media projects and share files more easily.

In addition to local storage, professionals may also use cloud-based storage services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or Amazon S3 for backup and remote access. These cloud-based services provide secure and reliable storage for media files, and allow professionals to access their files from anywhere with an internet connection. Cloud storage services can also be used for sharing files with clients or team members, as well as for collaborating on projects in real-time.

Many professionals also follow best practices for media asset management, which involves organizing media files in a structured and consistent manner. This may include creating a standardized folder structure, using descriptive file names, and adding metadata tags to files to make them easier to search and find.

Overall, professional media creators use a combination of local storage devices and cloud-based storage services, along with media asset management practices, to ensure that their media files are secure, easily accessible, and well-organized.

Before diving into the mechanics of selling on TikTok, it’s crucial to understand the platform’s audience demographics and preferences. TikTok primarily attracts a younger demographic, with a significant portion of its users falling within the age range of 16 to 24. Therefore, content on TikTok tends to be creative, authentic, and visually appealing, catering to the preferences of Gen Z and Millennials.
Crafting Compelling Content

The cornerstone of success on TikTok lies in creating engaging content that resonates with your target audience. Here are some tips for crafting compelling TikTok content:

Embrace Authenticity: TikTok users appreciate genuine and relatable content. Avoid overly polished or salesy videos and instead focus on showcasing the human side of your brand.

Leverage Trends: Keep an eye on popular trends, challenges, and hashtags on TikTok. By incorporating these trends into your content, you can increase its visibility and reach a wider audience.

Tell a Story: Storytelling is a powerful tool for capturing the attention of viewers. Use storytelling techniques to convey your brand’s message in a captivating and memorable way.

Keep it Short and Snappy: TikTok videos have a maximum duration of 60 seconds, so make every second count. Keep your content concise, engaging, and fast-paced to maintain viewer interest.

Use Music and Effects: TikTok offers a wide range of music tracks, filters, and effects that can enhance the appeal of your videos. Experiment with different audiovisual elements to create eye-catching content.
Building Your Brand Presence

Establishing a strong brand presence on TikTok is essential for gaining traction and building a loyal following. Here are some strategies for effectively branding your TikTok account:

Optimize Your Profile: Ensure that your TikTok profile is complete and optimized for search. Use a catchy profile picture, write a compelling bio, and include relevant keywords to improve discoverability.

Consistent Branding: Maintain consistency in your branding elements, such as logo, colors, and tone of voice, across all your TikTok content. This helps reinforce brand recognition and credibility.

Engage with Your Audience: Actively engage with your followers by responding to comments, likes, and messages. Encourage user-generated content and foster a sense of community around your brand.

Collaborate with Influencers: Partnering with TikTok influencers can amplify your brand’s reach and credibility. Identify influencers whose audience aligns with your target demographic and collaborate on content creation or sponsored campaigns.
Implementing Effective Selling Techniques

While TikTok is primarily a platform for entertainment, it also presents opportunities for businesses to promote and sell their products or services. Here are some strategies for effectively selling on TikTok:

Soft Sell Approach: Avoid direct and aggressive sales pitches, as they can turn off TikTok users. Instead, adopt a soft sell approach by subtly integrating your products or services into your content in a natural and authentic manner.

Showcase Product Benefits: Highlight the key features and benefits of your products or services in an engaging and visually appealing way. Demonstrate how your offerings can solve a problem or enhance the lives of your target audience.

Create Tutorial Videos: Educational content performs well on TikTok, so consider creating tutorial videos that showcase how to use your products or achieve certain results. Make sure the tutorials are informative, entertaining, and easy to follow.

Run TikTok Ads: Utilize TikTok’s advertising platform to reach a larger audience and promote your products or services. Experiment with different ad formats, targeting options, and creative elements to maximize your ad campaign’s effectiveness.

Offer Exclusive Discounts and Promotions: Drive sales by offering exclusive discounts, promotions, or giveaways to your TikTok followers. Create a sense of urgency by setting a limited time offer or showcasing limited edition products.
Analyzing Performance and Iterating

Measuring the performance of your TikTok content is crucial for refining your strategy and maximizing your ROI. Take advantage of TikTok’s analytics tools to track key metrics such as views, likes, shares, and engagement rate. Analyze the data to identify trends, understand what resonates with your audience, and optimize your content accordingly. Continuously iterate and experiment with different approaches to find what works best for your brand.
Conclusion

Selling on TikTok requires a strategic approach that balances creativity, authenticity, and effective marketing techniques. By understanding the platform’s audience, crafting compelling content, building a strong brand presence, and implementing effective selling techniques, businesses can leverage TikTok’s immense reach and engagement to drive sales and achieve their marketing objectives.
